Yellow-rumped (Myrtle) Warbler
Species Details
One of the most common and widespread warblers in winter and early spring, plumage shows a bright yellow rump and sides. They breed in mixed forests in the northern U.S. and Canada and are found in any woodland or open shrubby area. Males are strikingly black overall with a mostly yellow throat; females and immatures are similar but less strongly marked. Their call sounds like a rising “chit”.
