Junior Ranger Intern Program

Project Details

During the summer months, park rangers lead six-day internship programs for select youth from the Nashville community and surrounding area. These internships introduce teenage participants to conservation and environmental stewardship practices. Thanks to funding support from a private family foundation and Friends of Radnor Lake, this program is offered three times each summer and creates an opportunity for local youth to work with the Radnor Lake Staff.

The goal of this unique internship opportunity, which has been offered the last 19 years at Radnor Lake, is to instill an environmental and conservation ethic in future generations. Daily work of these youth interns ranges from trail building on our Harris Ridge Trail Project, working with park volunteers mulching trails, assisting the park staff with maintenance needs at the Barbara J. Mapp Aviary Education Center and other needs at the natural area.

Dates for all three 6-day sessions and registration details are announced on April 1st of each year. For more information on our Jr. Ranger Intern Program at Radnor Lake, please contact Lyndy Maness at
