Species Details

Flashing flame-orange tail and wing patches give away the male redstart. Females and young males are dull grays to olive with yellow wing and tail markings. It sings a rapid “tsee-tsee-tsee-o” while foraging for insects in the forest canopy. The female builds a cup nest of plant down lined with grasses and sometimes feathers.
