Observation Deck

Project Details

Even the most energetic hikers have a hard time resisting a glance at Radnor Lake from the Observation Deck, constructed adjacent to the Lake Trail in fall of 2015. The Observation Deck, funded by the Adams family, on the northern shore of the lake, provides an incredible view of Radnor Lake. This view helps us to truly appreciate the term “viewshed” as, from this vantage point, almost all the eye can see is protected natural area.

Completed on November 13, 2015, this platform provides an excellent area for wildlife observation and ranger led interpretive spotting scope programs for park visitors. During the first spotting scope program, park visitors were fortunate to see an American Bald Eagle, numerous waterfowl, including mallards, ringneck ducks, and pie-billed grebes. Occasionally, you can spot an otter swimming or deer feeding!

Thanks to the numerous volunteers who worked with park staff on this project, which was managed by R. Chris Magill Consulting.
