Reserving an Automated Wheelchair at Radnor Lake
Our automated wheelchairs can be operated independently and (thanks to external funding from Friends of Radnor Lake) have been modified to offer the option of allowing caretaker control behind the wheelchair.
Due to other visitors utilizing the wheelchairs, limited park staff and to ensure the wheelchairs are fully charged prior to your arrival, reservations of our automated wheelchairs at Radnor Lake are required 48 hours in advance.
Our wheelchair reservations ensure that a state park ranger meets/welcomes each visitor to ensure they select a wheelchair, orient each user and/or caregiver on use of the wheelchair being used, provide trail recommendations and current information such as location of restrooms & trail maps, scenic views & wildlife sightings to highlight the hike. This is designed to help ensure each visit is enjoyable and meets expectations.
Visitors with reservations for one of our automated all-terrain wheelchairs will be asked to meet one of our rangers in front of the Walter Criley Visitor Center at one of our Wheelchair-friendly parking spots. All reservations can be made by contacting Lyndy Maness by email at lyndy.maness@tn.gov or by text at 615-339-9829.
