Volunteers from CMT & Viacom at Radnor Lake State Natural Area
Employees from CMT & Viacom Global Services offices recently spent their annual company-wide day of service (Viacommunity Day) volunteering at Radnor Lake State Natural Area.
Katelin Ford worked with the staff coordinating the work day months in advance and wrote the following describing their day of service:
“Upon arriving, we grabbed wheelbarrows and started toward the trailer loaded down with pine straw. When the rain became stronger, we took a little break to see if the monsoon would pass. Thank goodness we brought ponchos!”
These volunteers worked with the park ranger staff hauling wheelbarrows of pine straw to the new observation deck on the Lake Trail, hauling 60 bales of pine straw 1/4 mile down the trail in the rain. They also hauled out the last of the construction lumber and materials from the project to help us complete this project prior to heavier storms arriving. Both rangers and volunteers were soaking wet as it began to pour!
Instead of calling it a day, these volunteers asked for another project and assisted the park staff with a delivery of 40 new chairs purchased for the Audio Visual Room at Radnor Lake. Thanks to their effort, we were able to complete loading all of the older chairs on pallets for transport, recycle all of the cardboard/packing materials and setting up the audio visual room for our park visitors on Memorial Day Weekend. In about an hour, a chore that would have taken most of the day for our small park staff.
Katelin summed it up best after our work day “It was a wonderful day at Radnor Lake! We were glad to support the rangers and conservationists working to preserve this beautiful place. CMT and Viacom employees are definitely looking forward to volunteering at Radnor Lake again”.
Thank you to all of these volunteers from CMT and Viacom Global Business offices for their time at Radnor Lake!
