Spring Sunrise Harris Ridge Trail Project Hike

Come join Park Manager Steve Ward for a strenuous interpretive sunrise hike from the Walter Criley Visitor Center to Harris Ridge as we kick off the first day of spring 2023 with our focus on the Harris Ridge Trail Project. This 4 1/2-mile strenuous hike will start at 6am sharp as this hike will lead visitors down Otter Creek Road, then highlight future trail construction corridors thru these back areas of the natural area. Participants of this hike should plan on periodic stops to highlight features of our protected natural area, see the progress of our trail construction with our Jr. Ranger Interns and an overview of the Harris Ridge Trail from Franklin Road to Otter Creek Road.

This hike also will provide an opportunity to give back as it will also include a 1/2 hour stop/volunteer segment midway thru the hike as registered participants work together to learn about and pull invasive-exotic plants along our future trail path.

Participants should plan on enjoying sunrise along this hike and we will hike to the ridgetop known as Harris Ridge (Tract #1) which was a critical 37-acre tract acquired in 2011 thanks to the partnership between the State of Tennessee, the Harris Family and Friends of Radnor Lake.

This 3.5-hour strenuous hike will be limited to 30 park visitors (ages 15 and up). Participants are encouraged to wear good hiking shoes, bring water, work gloves, and use walking sticks due to the steep incline/decline from the top of Harris Ridge.

Registration is free, required and for ages 15 and up. Pets are not allowed. To register, please visit:
