Unless otherwise noted, reservations for activities open at 9:30 A.M. on the Sunday before the program and will be taken until it is full. Please call 373-3467 to sign up.

Late-Summer Wildflower Hikes

  • Monday, September 12th at 9am. Join Ranger Dustin Crowell for a powerpoint presentation and hike on our late summer wildflowers hike at Radnor Lake. Program begins at the Radnor Lake Visitor Center. Ages 10 years old and up. Registration is required and begins on Friday, September 9th at 10am.

 

  • Tuesday, September 20th at 9am. Join Ranger Dustin Crowell for a power point presentation and hike on our late summer wildflowers hike at Radnor Lake. Program begins at the Radnor Lake Visitor Center. Ages 10 years old and up. Registration is required and begins on Friday, September 16th at 10am.

 

  • Tuesday, September 27th at 3pm. Join Ranger Will Peters for a power point presentation and hike on our late summer wildflowers hike at Radnor Lake. Program begins at the Radnor Lake Visitor Center. Ages 10 years old and up. Registration is required and begins on Friday, September 23rd at 10am.

 

  • Wednesday, September 28th at 3pm. Join Paul Schauer for a power point presentation and hike on our late summer wildflowers hike at Radnor Lake.  Program begins at the Radnor Lake Visitor Center.  Ages 10 years old and up. Registration is required and begins on Sunday, September 23rd at 10am.

 
 

 National Public Lands Day – Radnor Lake

 

National Public Lands Day Kick-Off Land Acquisition Hike

Friday, September 23rdth at 4pm. Come out for a hike to kick off National Public Lands Day at Radnor Lake. This hike will be co-led by Dr. Robert Loeb (Penn State University), Dr. Doug Heffington (MTSU) and Park Manager Steve Ward. See the view from the ridgetop, learn about the watershed, viewshed, historical past land uses and natural features of this new property currently being purchased in 2016.   Bring water, a walking stick and wear sturdy shoes for this strenuous hike. Registration is required and hikes are limited to 20 participants. Ages 14 and up.  Reservations begin on Friday, September 16th at 10am.
 

National Public Lands Day – Volunteer Trail Day at Radnor Lake

  • Saturday, September 24th at 8am-11:30am. Join the Radnor Lake Staff, Hands on Nashville and Friends of Radnor Lake for our monthly volunteer day. We will be working on a variety of projects ranging from mulching the Lake Trail and the Historic Valve House Trail.   Lunch, gloves and bottled water provided by Friends of Radnor Lake. No reservations necessary.

 

National Public Lands Day – Barbara J. Mapp Aviary Education Center

  • Saturday, September 24th at 1pm-sunset. Join Ranger Seasonal Ranger Laurie Campbell at the new aviary center at Radnor Lake for a tour, a bird of prey program or to view our four birds of prey along the 550’ boardwalk. Reservations are not required.

 

 Environmental Research Management Hike

  • Saturday, September 24th (1pm-3:30pm). Come out to hike the trails of Radnor Lake State Natural Area led by Dr. Robert Loeb of the Pennsylvania State University to learn about the scientific research being performed at Radnor Lake to inform the management of the Natural Area. The group will be making stops along the trails to observe the research projects concerning long-term forest changes related to invasive plant species, white-tailed deer, beaver, landslides, ridges, endangered plant species and landscape history.

This hike will be divided into two parts: the first part is rated as moderate; and the second part is rated as difficult. The entire hike will take two hours. It is recommend that participants wear sturdy shoes and bring something to drink.
Reservations are required and start on Friday, September 16th at 10am. Participants will meet at the Walter Criley Visitor Center for a brief slide presentation prior to the hike.
This hike will start at the Visitor Center off of Granny White Pike promptly at 1pm on September 24th.  Anyone wanting to make reservations may do so at the Visitor Center in person or by calling the park office at 615-373-3467.
