On September 21, 2024, four Red-headed Woodpeckers were seen at Radnor Lake State Natural Area. These woodpeckers are uncommon for the Nashville Area with most birders seeing a single individual during migration. Since then, there have been numerous sightings of them throughout the park with the high count being fifteen. If you would like to see them, they favor dead snags with open understory commonly seen behind Walter Criley Visitor Center and Otter Creek Road Causeway.
