Radnor Lake’s Recovery Begins

The ice storm left sections of Radnor Lake unrecognizable. The Banner’s Demetria Kalodimos got the first tour of the damage after a week of extraordinary cleanup by staff and state crews. Experts say there’s no telling how many giant trees fell — at one point it was every 30 seconds. Parts of the park that were once dense forest will now be forced to revert to native grasslands. It’s the worst blow to this sanctuary since the 2010 flood. But Park Manager Steve Ward is vowing to be open in March.
