New Years Eve Hike at Radnor Lake SNA Dec. 31st, 2015

14th Annual New Year’s Eve Hike at Radnor Lake State Natural Area.

On December 31st, 2015,  31 park visitors joined Park Manager Steve Ward and Park Ranger Sam King for a midnight hike to the newest acquired ridgetop at Radnor Lake State Natural Area.

Acquired in 2015, this 17 acre addition along the southern boundary above Franklin Road was the destination of the hike on New Years Eve thanks to the partnership between the State of Tennessee and Friends of Radnor Lake as part of 52 new acres currently being added to the natural area.  Park visitors hiked to and kicked-off 2016 atop the newest ridgetop for a 3 1/2 hour hike which concluded around 2am on January 1st.

This hike is 1 of 2 hikes being offered at Radnor Lake, the second will be on January 1st at 11am with Ranger Will Peters and Ranger Paul Schauer to another ridgetop on the southern boundary as part of the 2013 Hideaway Acquisition.

We would like to thank everyone who attended the hike tonight and for spending New Years Eve with us atop the newest ridgetop now protected forever at Radnor Lake State Natural Area.

Special Thanks to our friend Wade Punch for providing the photographs from tonights hike!

The park ranger staff at Radnor Lake will be offering more hikes to this new property beginning on March 1st.
