National Trails Day Hike: Big Trees of Radnor Lake

Come join Ranger Paul Schauer for a 7am strenuous hike on National Trails Day 2026 at Radnor Lake. This strenuous hike will focus on 3 winning trees from our past Nashville Tree Foundation Big Tree Awards. Participants will meet at the Walter Criley Visitor Center, then hike with Ranger Schauer up the Lake Trail to Ganier Ridge Trail including some off-trail stops to view the Big trees of Radnor Lake up close. Participants will learn about how to submit a Big Tree for the Nashville Tree Foundation Contest, history of some of our trees and other facts about the trees of Radnor Lake. Registration is required, no pets allowed, and hike is for ages 10 and up. This hike is on and off trail, considered strenuous, and participants are encouraged to bring water, insect repellent, hiking poles and wear good hiking shoes. Hike is approximately 2.5+ hours.
