Ice Storm Damage at Radnor Lake

 

March 2nd, Radnor Lake State Natural Area was not immune to the recent ice storm that hit Middle Tennessee on March 3rd.  Trees have been cleared and power is restored to all facilities at Radnor Lake as of 4:30pm March 4th.  

 

There are several trees down on the 6+ miles of trails at Radnor Lake.  On Tuesday, those trees were surveyed/marked by the ranger staff and they will begin removing those trees early  morning on March 5th.  Given the large amount of trees down on the trails and still falling from the ice strom, this is expected to take 3 days with final clearing of trails/chainsaw work to conclude by Friday March 6th.   

 

Given the wet weather and thaw from the ice storm, visitors should expect the trails to be muddy for the next several days.  Any visitor wishing to help out with this clean-up process is encouraged to come to our next volunteer day on March 22nd at 8am.
