First Hike: Big Trees of Radnor Lake with Ranger Paul Schauer
Picture above taken by Park Manager, Steve Ward.
18 visitors joined Ranger Paul Schauer at 7am on January 3rd for a strenuous hike which focused on 3 winning trees from our past Nashville Tree Foundation Big Tree Awards. Participants met at the Walter Criley Visitor Center, then hiked with Ranger Schauer to the Lake Trail then up Ganier Ridge Trail which included off trail stops to view the Big trees of Radnor Lake up close.
Participants also learned about how to submit a Big Tree for the Nashville Tree Foundation Contest, history of some of our trees and other facts about the trees of Radnor Lake.
This was the 5th of our 5 First Hikes this past week. Thank you to all our visitors who attended this hike to kick off 2026!
