Aviary Workshop at Radnor Lake SNA on May 9th, 2019

On Thursday, May 9th there was an Aviary Workshop held for Tennessee State Park Rangers led by John and Dale Stokes from Wings to Soar, Veterinarian and bird of prey care expert Dr. Chris Keller, Captive Wildlife Coordinator for Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Walter Cook, Tennessee State Parks Director of Operations Mike Robertson, Regional Manager for TN State Parks Chris Padgett and Regional Interpreter for Tennessee State Parks David Haggard.
35 State Park Rangers from parks across the state that have captive wildlife programs and/or use birds of prey for interpretive programming were in attendance for this 1-day Workshop at the Walter Criley Visitor Center at Radnor Lake State Natural Area.
The purpose and focus of this workshop was to ensure that all of our Tennessee State Parks were conducing best practices to ensure we are staying consistent in our care, and handling, of these birds as we head into our summer busy season.
Special thanks to Friends of Radnor Lake for sponsoring this aviary workshop, John and Dale Stokes with Wings to Soar along with Dr. Chris Keller for working with all of our rangers in attendance to improve our captive wildlife programs at our Tennessee State Parks.
