On May 20th 2017, a Black-bellied Whistling Duck was documented on Radnor Lake for the first time by Larry Hollon. Occasionally, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks wander from their breeding grounds during migration due to extreme weather or inexperience of migration. Within the United States, this species of whistling duck is typically found in Texas and Louisiana where marshes and swamps are plentiful. The Radnor Lake individual was first spotted at the canoe launch ramp and as of May 26, 2017 has been feeding in the slough near the causeway on the east side of the park.
