World Wetlands Day at Radnor Lake

Over 30 volunteers came out to help us celebrate World Wetlands Day at Radnor Lake on Friday, February 2nd. This is our 5th year to host this resource management focused day with our army of volunteers, which included students and staff from Ensworth High School. In addition to Ensworth, volunteers from the community came out to work with our park staff on the ground removing invasive-exotic plants within the critical watershed habitat lagoon area on the east end of Radnor Lake. Our state park rangers used chainsaws while volunteers followed using weed wrenches and pulling by hand these invasive-exotic plant species. The removal creates piles of new habitat for wildlife. Primary focus of plants remove for World Wetlands Day 2024 was bush honeysuckle, privet and winter creeper.
