Mallard

Species Details

The iconic green head and brown breast of the male Mallard will be familiar to most observers. The small resident population at the lake are most likely descended from domesticated farm stock. Truly wild Mallards are migratory and usually only observed here in late fall and winter. They are extraordinarily wary of human presence, though some do occur from time to time on the lake.
