Tennessee Promise Volunteers and MTSU Geography Students at Radnor Lake State Natural Area on April 16th, 2016

On Saturday, April 16th we were fortunate to have 10 TN Promise Volunteers come to Radnor Lake State Natural Area and work with Ranger Paul Schauer on restoration of our Historic Valve House Project.   These Tennessee Promise Volunteers assisted with hauling lumber, pulling invasive exotic and post construction of our Historic Valve House Project at Radnor Lake.   Lunch, bottled water and gloves were provided by Friends of Radnor Lake and

Spring Land Acquisition Hikes 2016

Radnor Lake State Natural Area began it's spring land acquisition hike campaign on Friday, March 4th.  This years hikes are focused on 53 acres of new property recently placed under contract thanks to the partnership between Tennessee State Parks, Tennessee Division of Natural Areas and Friends of Radnor Lake.   On Thursday, April 14th Park Manager Steve Ward and Park Ranger Will Peters co-led a hike for 6 park visitors on the newly acquired

Historic Valve House on April 9th, 2016

On April 9th, Geography students from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) participated in ongoing research at Radnor Lake  State Natural Area (RLSNA). Under the direction of Dr. Doug Heffington and Ranger Sam King, students continued clean-up operations preparing for the reconstruction of the historic valve house.  The valve house recently fully collapsed after years of water and ice damage, specifically from the 2010 flood. Jr. Ranger 2016

Our much anticipated Junior Ranger Intern Program at Radnor Lake will be held again this summer for youth ages 12-18 years old.  This program creates an opportunity for participants to work with state park rangers on trail projects at Radnor Lake, increase their exposure to environmental education programs and gain an insight into natural resource protection.
