Weed Wrangle: Invasive Weed Week Volunteer Day at Radnor Lake State Natural Area 2015

Volunteer Day at Radnor Lake Saturday, February 28th, 2015:  Part of a city wide effort across Nashville, Radnor Lake was one of 7 host sites for this event. Weed Wrangle is a joint partnership with an overall goal to reach as many people as possible with the message of the importance of invasive plant removal across the Nashville/Davidson County Community.  Over 90 volunteers worked with the park ranger staff and SIR Will Peters on Saturday as part of this event and to cap off National Invasive Species Awareness Week.  Lunch was provided by Friends of Radnor Lake and the day was highlighted with an invasive-exotic plant powerpoint program presentation for volunteers from noon-1pm by SIR Will Peters.  We would like to thank all of our volunteers who came out and helped last Saturday to work with the staff as we work toward our resource management goal of removing 100 acres of invasive-exotic plants from the natural area in 2015.  In addition, we would like to thank park visitors Dana and Rick Short for donating 26 cases of bottled water to support our volunteer efforts this spring on our exotic plant removal efforts.  Donations such as this are greatly appreciated by the staff and park volunteers……thank you Dana and Rick!
