New Years Day Hike at Radnor Lake (11am Hideaway Hike) on Jan. 1st, 2016

First Hike Series: New Year’s Day Hike at Radnor Lake State Natural Area

On January 1st at 11am, 22 park visitors attended an off-trail hike lead by Ranger Will Peters and Ranger Paul Schauer.   This hike focused on one of the newest acquired ridgetops near Dyer Observatory that was acquired in 2014 in a partnership between the State of Tennessee, Friends of Radnor Lake and the Land Trust for Tennessee which resulted in 63.5 acres added to the natural area which is now protected forever!

Hikers were able to enjoy a unique scenic view over Brentwood and learn about the natural features of this property including endangered plant research partnership between the State of Tennessee, Penn State University and Friends of Radnor Lake.

We would like to thank all our visitors who attended this hike and our hike on New Years Eve to Harris Ridge #2 which resulted in over 55 park visitors attending these two hikes to kick off 2016 at Radnor Lake!

The park ranger staff at Radnor Lake will be offering more land acquisition hikes to our newest property off of Franklin Road  beginning on March 1st.
