National Public Lands Day at Radnor Lake

As part of National Public Lands Day, the Radnor Lake Staff, Friends of Radnor Lake, Hands on Nashville and REI staff hosted a special volunteer work day at Radnor Lake. 85 volunteers attended the event with t-shirts provided by REI and lunch by Friends of Radnor Lake.  Volunteers assisted the park ranger staff with trail projects on the Lake, South Lake and South Cove Trails. Friends of Radnor Lake and the Barbara J. Mapp Foundation funded a two-day training for the park ranger staff at Radnor Lake on September 17th and 18th, 2014. Diageo Category Development and Strategic Accounts Marketing Volunteers
Radnor Lake Volunteer Group on Sept. 9th, 2014

35 volunteers from the Diageo Category Development and Strategic Accounts Marketing for Diageo came to Radnor Lake State Natural Area on September 9th, 2014.  These volunteers hiked and worked with Ranger Sam King on the Lake Trail installing fresh mulch along the trail.  We are extremely thankful to these volunteers from Diageo for taking time out to help us maintain our trails at Radnor Lake State Natural Area!

Lipscomb University Volunteers
Lipscomb Volunteer Group on September 6th, 2014. Pix by Ranger Sam King

Students from Theta Psi (a social club from Lipscomb University) came to Radnor Lake on Saturday, September 6th to work with the park ranger staff on the Lake and Ganier Ridge Trails. According to student leader Luke Saison, part of the groups mission as a club is "to better ourselves, our campus, and the greater Nashville Area. Radnor Lake became the ideal place to help out at because of its proximity to campus and how often our guys go out there.

Tennessee Ornithological Society Fall 2014 Bird Walks

The Tennessee Ornithological Society (T.O.S.) will be holding its Fall 2014 Wednesday Bird Walks on the following dates at Radnor Lake State Natural Area. September 10th September 17th September 24th October  1st October 8th October  15th All walks begin at 7:30am in the West Parking lot in front of the Walter Criley Visitors Center. Birding counts are provided by T.O.S. after each walk scheduled this fall, those will be available at http://radnorlake.org/2014-fall-bird-list/.

August 2014 Volunteer Day

28 volunteers came to Radnor Lake on  August 23rd to help the ranger staff for our monthly volunteer day. Volunteers worked with SIR Will Peters, Ranger Sam King and Ranger Leslie Anne Rawlings to install mulch and gravel on the Lake Trail at Radnor Lake.
